Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma asked me to share information about their upcoming fundraiser 5K.
Please join us for the 12th Annual Sacramento Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma 5K Run and 2-mile Fun Run/Walk!
This event is an excellent opportunity to raise money for research to find the cause and cure of scleroderma. It helps our chapter provide the necessary support resources and free educational forums for patients and families.
Join us and help support the cause! Create your own fundraising page and encourage your family, friends and coworkers to support your goal. We make it easy to share your fundraising page online through email and social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Be a part of the Foundation’s largest fundraising events. Because of generous donors, volunteers and participants – just like you – we are able to get one step closer to finding a cure for scleroderma.

Relay For Life of Modesto
Event Date: Saturday, May 17, 2014
Event Time: 9:00 am
Event Location: Johansen High School 641 Norseman Drive Modesto, CA 95357
What Is Relay For Life?
Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay For Life movement.
During a Relay event, participants and survivors celebrate what they’ve overcome.
We remember people lost to the disease, and honor people who have fought or are fighting cancer.
The event inspires Relay participants to take action against a disease that has taken too much.
Opening Ceremony: 9:00am
The Opening Ceremony brings everyone together for a high-energy event kickoff to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, to inspire hope by sharing recent accomplishments and progress, and to remind everyone that while we are winning this battle, fighting cancer is a year-round priority.
Survivors Lap: 9:30am
During the Survivors Lap, upbeat music plays as all cancer survivors at the event take the first lap around the track cheered on by the other participants who line the track, celebrating their victory over cancer.
Luminaria Ceremony: 8:00pm
The Luminaria Ceremony is a time to remember people we have lost to cancer, to support people who currently have cancer, and to honor people who have fought cancer in the past. The power of this ceremony lies in providing an opportunity for people to work through grief and find hope.
Fight Back: 9:00am
The Fight Back Ceremony symbolizes the emotional commitment we each make to the fight against cancer. The action we take represents what we are willing to do for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for our community to fight cancer year-round and to commit to saving lives.
Closing Ceremony: 9:00am
The Closing Ceremony is a time to remember the lives of those lost and to celebrate that each of us has committed, through our participation in a Relay event, to fight back against this disease over the next year.

The Stockton Asparagus Festival is a non-profit charity. The proceeds of the Stockton Asparagus Festival are shared by over 129 charities that are represented by the Spear-It Staff volunteers.
Each charity receives a “donation” based on a schedule of units, or hours, for the work performed by the volunteers.
In 2013 the Asparagus Festival was able to distribute $63,500 among the charities involved.
In the past 29 years, over $5.9 million dollars has been contributed back to local charities directly from the Stockton Asparagus Festival.
This would not be possible without the continued help of the community.

On Tuesday runners gathered at Dry Creek Trail in Modesto for a Boston Memorial 3-Mile Run.
This was an amazing event put on by RunFit Fitness Center.
Before the run people got to hear an inspirational message about resilience and courage from Vicky King, a local runner who was unable to complete the Boston Marathon last year.
Vicky is returning to Boston this year to finish what she started and we all will be running with her in spirit.
Much love to Boston as they hold their 118th race on Monday!
We are Boston Strong!!
